Party time & tuned UltraHD

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Mini project #2 after my grand 1st one: Last week I had a change to test my new setup of my UltraHD camcorder.
Led dim lighter, mono-pod & glued wide lens of 37mm. Worked like charm in low light conditions. Just double check the glass when you gluing a lens on it. In my case the whole surface of video glass was piled by superglue steam. It caused a natural blur filter in final footage. Also dim light was filtered by white paper do restrict direct dim light to the subject. Doing so will help you to keep your subject as close as possible to your camera without distracting it with direct light.

Final shot – caught in action :)

A video documentary output for your judge is here:

Also foto footage from event:

Next day (Sunday) was flying day. Rainy but flyable. Also thermal activity was also in the air, but not for me due to rainy clouds and dirty ground at that time. Some shots from the Sunday sky:

Friday, October 29th, 2010

“<...>James Gosling sat down and did a really casual, off-the-cuff interview with the guys at basementcoders.com. You can head over to their siteto download the entire interview. We’ll have the transcript of the whole thing up post-haste. But if you don’t have the time to listen to the entire hour long interview, here are a few quotable gems that will tide you over until the complete transcript is up on TheServerSide.com” (c)Cameron McKenzie

Feedflow

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Facebook, twitter, your home page, your online albums ant etc.. All of those are reflections of your life in many formats. Some of them are published to social media, some of them are left in a shadow.
My mission here is to accumulate all those flows to the singular point and make it self living organism.
Twitter, home page, online albums like Picasa have a rss feed. By using rss feed and online service http://twitterfeed.com you can setup an automatic rss feed re-publisher to a few services like twitter, facebook, statusnet, ping.fm, hellotxt.
http://twitterfeed.com was my choice of the simplicity & free of charge service. Alternative would be to use http://feedburner.google.com, but this one does not have a facebook connector.
The draft concept would be something similar to:
feedflow

Main feed flow from picasaweb, own pages (home page), vimeo account are published to twitter account. Twitter account feed is published to Facebook. Also Linked in account is connected to the my own home page through the Linked in wordpress connector.

Munin – I found you!

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

How to keep an eye on the server resources under unix platform? My “server” farm:
currently is under the Cacti control, which is a powerful tool to track anything you want/can on the system and outside it ;)
Yet another approach is to use a MUNIN. Easy to install, easy to configure, easy to maintain!

“<...>
Munin the monitoring tool surveys all your computers and remembers what it saw. It presents all the information in graphs through a web interface. Its emphasis is on plug and play capabilities. After completing a installation a high number of monitoring plugins will be playing with no more effort.

Using Munin you can easily monitor the performance of your computers, networks, SANs, applications, weather measurements and whatever comes to mind. It makes it easy to determine “what’s different today” when a performance problem crops up. It makes it easy to see how you’re doing capacity-wise on any resources. “

Cacti or Minin?

French Alps, I’m coming!

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Yesterday briefing decision was – GO to FRANCE dude!

Detailed trip plan was mocked. When, with who and how questions were raised and mr. dude. Linas was on the top to answering to them.

Tomorrow is the last day in Lithuanian. Tomorrow we’re moving to destination by crossing the Poland by night. The right time to cross Poland anyway.

Why France? The question “Where the paragliding heaven is” – has one answer: “France – Annecy!”

We’re moving to paragliding heaven – French Alps. In total ~10 pilots group. Initial plan is get to the Annecy in a 24hours starting from 21.30PM of 07/16:

For those who does not know what Annecy is:

If to trust to google: ~2,200 km and about 24 hours of drive. Going by campers. Will see how it goes. In yesterday briefing someone said that 24hours is to optimistic for such distance.

Keep you posted (in case will find some wifi).

Some para-vimeos from Annecy:
